Starting
April 22, 2010 all remodeling and repair work done for compensation to housing
built prior to 1978 must be done in compliance with the new Renovation, Repair &
Painting (RRP) Regulations. Contractors doing this work must get their employees
and their business ready to operate under these new rules or risk fines up to
$32,000.00 per individual violation.
All
residential contractors from all trades will be subject to these new rules and
potential fines and liabilities for disturbing lead paint in older homes.
New
business responsibilities under these regulations include certification
training, business registration, documentation of of a variety of activities,
education and supervision of workers, education and notification of homeowners
and occupants just to name a few.
You can't
pretend not to know about or wait for this to go away! Smart business owners can
not only be ready for April 22nd, they can also use these new requirements in a
variety of ways to separate their business from the competition.
The Greater
Phoenix Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry has
arranged for the required one day training session to be taught by the
CONNOR Institute, an
EPA-accredited national training provider.
